The Life and Work of Ursi, a Sculptor Without Borders
Ursicino Martínez Montiel, known as Ursi, was a versatile artist born in Villabellaco, Palencia, in 1932.
He worked as a coal miner, emigrant in Brazil, plastics entrepreneur and inventor before becoming a renowned sculptor.
His work, including 160 sculptures, is found in the Ursi Museum in Aguilar de Campoo, Palencia.
Ursi rejected a blank check from a Galician entrepreneur so that his work would stay in Aguilar.
His life and work are an example of humanity's ability to overcome obstacles and create something valuable.
