Malaika Mihambo, the 32-year-old long jumper from LG Kurpfalz, celebrated a victory at her season start in Rehlingen.

With a distance of 6.82 meters, she surpassed the second place and edged out the Jamaican Ackelia Smith by a centimeter.

The European Athletics Championships will take place from August 10 to 16 in Birmingham.

Mihambo had already won the Olympic title two years ago.
