German Soldier Drives Japanese Prince at Olympics

During the 1972 Olympics in Munich, a German soldier stationed in Landshut was equipped with a Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 to chauffeur a Japanese prince.

The soldier, who had just finished his studies, was part of the International Olympic Committee and conducted reconnaissance drives to the competition venues.

His passengers were Prince Tsuneyoshi Takeda and his wife, members of the Japanese imperial family.

The use of the German soldier was more cost-effective for the German state than booking taxis for the guests.
