Record Heat in South-West: Exceptional Temperatures
The South-West of France is currently experiencing a record heatwave.
Temperatures have reached unprecedented levels in May, with records set in several cities in the region.
In La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, the temperature reached 34.5°C, surpassing the previous record of 1947.
The city of Lacanau, Gironde, even recorded a temperature of 34.6°C, almost 14 degrees above the average May temperature.
This heatwave is particularly early and exceptional, with temperatures significantly above seasonal norms, by +10 to +15°C across the country.
