In Turkey's capital Ankara, police stormed the headquarters of the country's largest opposition party CHP on Sunday.

Hundreds of riot police, using tear gas, entered the building after party members blocked the entrance.

Deposed party leader Özgür Özel was forced to leave the party headquarters and announced that his party would remain in the streets or on the squares.

The police raids followed the deposition of Özel by a court in Ankara, which had declared the CHP party leadership election in 2023 invalid.

Thousands had already protested against Özel's deposition.
