The Vendée region is placed under yellow heatwave alert from Monday 25 May, an unprecedented alert at this time of year.

Climat Vendée forecasters note that this is not the first time the region has experienced exceptional heat, but this is remarkably important so early in the season.

The coast is also affected, with monthly heat records broken daily in May.

Thus, four records have already been broken: 33.2°C in Les Sables-d'Olonne, 32.5°C in La Roche-sur-Yon, 32.2°C on Île-d'Yeu and 31.5°C in Noirmoutier-en-l'Île.
