France at the Heart of the Cannes Film Festival
The French presidency hailed the influence of France in the production of award-winning films at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
According to the Elysée, half of the winning films benefited from the support of the National Film Centre.
The Cannes jury, chaired by Park Chan-wook, was also praised for its choices that highlighted cinema as a vector of social issues.
Romanian director Cristian Mungiu won his second Palme d'Or with the film 'Fjord', which sheds light on the fractures and contradictions of societies.
