The chief of staff of the Liguria governor, Matteo Cozzani, has been arrested for corruption.

According to investigators, Cozzani and Governor Giovanni Toti would have manipulated COVID-19 pandemic data.

Phone intercepts reveal that Cozzani would have increased infection numbers, telling the governor he had already increased them previously.

The investigation was opened to investigate data manipulation sent to the extraordinary Commissioner's structure for health emergency management.
